in Phone Scams by Scam Alert Editor

I just got a call from “Jake” at AT&T DirectTV.
Jake is obviously from another country.

He said they just pushed a new update the TV boxes.
[I don’t use DirectTV, but didn’t tell him]

Jake: “are you watching TV?”
Me: no
Jake: “will you turn on your TV?”
Me: sure [not still sitting at my desk]
Jake: “grab your remote and press the info button for 5 second”
Me: ok – at this point I’m guessing a screen with my customer ID info comes up
Jake: “what do you see”
Me: I see a clown trying to scam me.
–click–
Jake hung up.
Be careful out there folks
